Primitive rugs are a basic and folksy style. The word “Primitive” refers to the style of the rug, not the level of skill. This type of rug has a simple pattern and colour plan, plain black background with dark greens, blues, brown, or purple. Textured material and spot or marble dyed wool are used. Outline motifs are common with the same or contrasting colours.
