Fashion Week in Sauder Village. August 2019.
After 10 years of intensely making rugs, wall hangings, pillows, and bags I decided to do something different. I love wearing ponchos. But why not hook the poncho? Some ponchos made from wool were inspired by the design of the fabric, some – by my feelings. On grey geometric design fabric, I hooked squares of different shades of grey intertwined in places with multicolored squares. Making some ponchos brought to mind Tchaikovsky’s great work – Swan Lake. I hooked the swan in the middle. The blue fabric asks for blooming flowers and hummingbirds. These ponchos were displayed at the Sauder Village Rug Hooking Week.
I enjoyed teaching two workshops at Sauder Village during Rug Hooking Week in August 2019. One of the workshops was “Wearable Art: Make a Poncho” another - Exploring the Magic of Sculpting with Hooked Rugs.
